No, this isn't a hair metal album, and no it isn't crappy because of how dated it is. It's 22 years old. I believe it to be a masterpiece, 100% from the pacing to the album artwork. It spawned 7 hit singles (all still endlessly played on various radio stations in every city in the country) and It's one of the rare albums that I never tire of listening to.
There has never been an album produced this way, with this sound. It's a strange spacey Tron production, layered with fake tones and it turns it into a visual experience when hearing it. Sublime guitar tone, one armed electronic drums and good seperation between instruments regardless of the mushiness. Great for road trips at night, have fun figuring out the lyrics. They're all mumbled and unintelligible. "Pour Some Sugar on Me" got all the attention, but there are hidden gems here, specifically "Gods of War", featured below (with Top Gun clips!).
This band ate a pile of crap on every other release after this. It was their peak and artistic swan song all in one fell swoop.
I love this album cover, no matter what you think:
West London-based thrash metal foursome MUTANT has posted audio clips from its debut EP, "Laserdrome", on the band's MySpace page.
Produced by ex-STAMPIN' GROUND guitarist Scott Atkins (SYLOSIS, GAMA BOMB, CRADLE OF FILTH), "Laserdrome" will be available to buy exclusively on MUTANT's U.K tour with EVILE between April 15 and April 27 prior to the CD's official release on May 5.
NOTE: This is one of the best albums of the decade and the song featured here is one of my absolute favorites of the Folk/Black Metal Genre, and I will never tire of it.
