Def Leppard - Hysteria
No, this isn't a hair metal album, and no it isn't crappy because of how dated it is. It's 22 years old. I believe it to be a masterpiece, 100% from the pacing to the album artwork. It spawned 7 hit singles (all still endlessly played on various radio stations in every city in the country) and It's one of the rare albums that I never tire of listening to.
There has never been an album produced this way, with this sound. It's a strange spacey Tron production, layered with fake tones and it turns it into a visual experience when hearing it. Sublime guitar tone, one armed electronic drums and good seperation between instruments regardless of the mushiness. Great for road trips at night, have fun figuring out the lyrics. They're all mumbled and unintelligible. "Pour Some Sugar on Me" got all the attention, but there are hidden gems here, specifically "Gods of War", featured below (with Top Gun clips!).
This band ate a pile of crap on every other release after this. It was their peak and artistic swan song all in one fell swoop.
I love the TRON comment. I would like to remain anonymous. You don't know who I am. I liked the TRON comment because that album cover is 100% pure fucking TRON and I've never heard anyone discuss it. Best album of all time and I also never tire of it. I would like to stay anonymous. You don't know me. YOU DON'T KNOW ME.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's tough to figure out which of my friends likes Tron and Hysteria.
