I can't even put into words how much this scene terrified me and haunted my dreams when I was a child. So much so that it still scares me. Jacob Marley from the George C Scott version of "A Christmas Carol", made for TV in 1984
The Poltergeist movies are very frightening...that tiny lady with the creepy voice really freaks me out especially (my little people thing). That is interesting about the old men. Old ladies who look all warm and friendly but aren't, are just as bad. Like the "your baby's going to burn granny". And evil kids ie: Pet Cometary and The Shining. I watched so many scary movies as a teen. The exorcist is probably the one that scared me the most. But then there were the funny ones such as Chucky, Dolls and The Leprechaun (?). Those were jumpy and sometimes gross but not super scary. Those movies are for teenage boys who want girls to be scared and cuddle up...maybe? :)
How ironic, me being the "scaredy cat", I loved the ghost with his clanking chains...great movie.
ReplyDeleteThere are things that frighten me. Just not normal modern horror movie jump scares and cliches. Old men are the most horrifying.
